Damon D. Colbert recently received advanced level training, from the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys, on winning DUI – Drug cases. It is critically important to understand that officers are trained that there are many medical conditions, emotions, and feelings that will cause a sober driver to exhibit signs and symptoms similar to drug impairment. It is also important to understand that toxicology results cannot be used to prove that a person was impaired and blood and urine tests will disclose the presence of drugs long after the effects have worn off. The best attorneys are able to work backwards and reverse engineer the case after having the toxicology results and the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Evaluation. It is key to cross-examine the arresting officer and get them to admit as many times as possible the inconsistent findings in the case that the defense discovers by attacking the possible effects, duration of effects, and the expected results of the DRE Evaluation. This training was provided by Dave Cox, the Founder and President of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys.
The American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys has compiled information from Judges, Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors (the Top DUI Prosecutors in each State), DUI Prosecutors, current Law Enforcement Officers, former Law Enforcement Officers, and DUI Defense Attorneys to determine exactly what skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial.
When people need a DUI Attorney, the biggest challenge is knowing whether or not an attorney truly has the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases. Countless attorneys handle DUI cases. But, only a very small percentage have the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases.
Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys have received advanced level training on the strategies that win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial. Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys also have access to the resources and tools that are used to win and successfully resolve DUI cases and these are resources and tools that only a very small percentage of DUI attorneys have access to and use.
Damon D. Colbert represents people charged with DUI in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. While he focuses his practice in the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, and Fairfax County, he has handled DUI cases in other Virginia jurisdictions. During an April 2016 DUI trial, a Virginia judge stated: “Mr. Colbert, as I stated at the motion to strike, you know I really believe you did a wonderful job in this defense . . . I have been an attorney for 20 years before doing judicial work and I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of DUIs. You’re clearly among the best.”
Mr. Colbert has been a member of the Virginia Bar since October 2001 and a member of the District of Columbia Bar since April 2002. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and Davidson College.
