James Reed

James A. Reed recently received advanced level training, from the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys, on how to fight the results of the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) Test when it is conducted inside a patrol car. James received training on the many reasons why an officer cannot properly administer the HGN Test on a driver when both the driver and the officer are seated inside the patrol car. This training was provided to Association Members by Travis Jones. Mr. Jones is an AAPDA Field Sobriety Testing and Breath Testing Expert Member of the Association. Mr. Jones’ office is located in St. Peters, MO.

The American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys has compiled information from Judges, Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors (the Top DUI Prosecutors in each State), DUI Prosecutors, current Law Enforcement Officers, former Law Enforcement Officers, and DUI Defense Attorneys to determine exactly what skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial.

When people need a DUI Attorney, the biggest challenge is knowing whether or not an attorney truly has the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases. Countless attorneys handle DUI cases. But, only a very small percentage have the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases.

Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys have received advanced level training on the strategies that win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial. Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys also have access to the resources and tools that are used to win and successfully resolve DUI cases and these are resources and tools that only a very small percentage of DUI attorneys have access to and use.

Jim is a Colorado native, born in Denver and raised in Englewood, Colorado, having attended local schools during his formative years. His university education started at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and was completed with honors at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1971. Jim then returned to Washington D.C. and worked on Capitol Hill as the Legislative Assistant to Congressman Donald G. Brotzman (R. Colo.). During this time he was active in helping to shape legislation dealing with clean air and water, federal prison reform, and he participated in efforts to reform the congressional federal budget process.

Returning to law school at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Jim clerked throughout law school at a law firm in Boulder specializing in civil construction and banking matters, gaining valuable experience in those areas. Jim graduated in 1976, and soon after took a job with the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, where he served with distinction for four years, prosecuting a number of then relatively high profile criminal cases, including several murder trials.

By 1981, ready to try his wings in private practice, Jim was invited to join the local prestigious law firm of Trott, Kunstle and Hughes as a full partner, taking over management of the firm’s litigation duties. The range of litigated cases while there covered a full field of legal cases: corporate, banking, construction, contracts, partnerships, real estate, property taxation, appeals and fraud, to name a few. Criminal defense cases during that same period included first degree murder defenses, and defense of sexual assaults, armed robbery, large embezzlement cases, domestic violence matters and a host of DUI and more serious traffic misdemeanors.

In 1996, Jim established his own very successful solo private practice, James A. Reed, P.C., covering the areas of litigation in which he had developed an expertise: both civil and criminal lawsuits, in front of administrative boards, judges, and juries.
