Jimmy Cha

Jimmy Cha recently received advanced level training, from the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys, on how to use a driver’s internal body clock to win DUI cases. Jimmy received training on how a driver’s internal body clock can be assessed on both the Modified Romberg Balance Test and the One Leg Stand Test. If a driver’s internal body clock is found to be within +/- 5 seconds of 30 seconds, the defense can get an officer to testify that the driver’s internal body clock is consistent with the driver being not impaired at the time of the stop.

The American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys has compiled information from Judges, Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors (the Top DUI Prosecutors in each State), DUI Prosecutors, current Law Enforcement Officers, former Law Enforcement Officers, and DUI Defense Attorneys to determine exactly what skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial.

When people need a DUI Attorney, the biggest challenge is knowing whether or not an attorney truly has the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases. Countless attorneys handle DUI cases. But, only a very small percentage have the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases.

Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys have received advanced level training on the strategies that win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial. Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys also have access to the resources and tools that are used to win and successfully resolve DUI cases and these are resources and tools that only a very small percentage of DUI attorneys have access to and use.

Attorney Jimmy Cha is a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Jimmy Cha, and dedicates his practice solely to criminal defense and driving under the influence (DUI) cases. Mr. Cha’s criminal law background, and experience in the field provides him with a unique point of view of the criminal system that allows him to more appropriate advocate on behalf of his clients. He truly believes that good people often times make bad choices and/or decisions in life, and that everyone is entitled to good representation. He represents clients in Anaheim, Fullerton, Koreatown, Los Angeles, and many other cities in Los Angeles and Orange County, and surrounding areas.

If you have been arrested for driving under the influence, the penalties for driving under the influence in California are harsh.  Even for a first offense, the penalties are quite severe; including license suspension, fines of almost $ 2,000.00, mandatory attendance at a State or DMV approved alcohol program, and even potential jail time. In addition, a DUI conviction stays on your DMV record for at least 10 years, which may result in higher insurance premiums.  If you have a professional license from the State of California, the consequences can include a suspension, revocation or having to be placed on probation.  These penalties will also depend on whether or not the individual has prior criminal convictions.

It is important to contact an attorney immediately. Given that so much is at stake in a DUI case and because DUI defense is a technically and highly specialized field involving medical terminology, etc., it is important to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney who has handled many DUI cases, and who can guide you through the criminal justice system and the Admin Per Se Hearing of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The penalties you will receive will often be based upon the skill of your attorney. The prosecution has many years of legal training and you need someone who has the skills to adequately and zealously represent you. An attorney who has the skills, knowledge, and experience regarding DUI’s will have the best chance of receiving alternative or lessened sentencing, lesser charges or avoiding the conviction altogether.

Jimmy Cha has successfully defended hundreds of DUI cases. He is a member of the California DUI Lawyers Association and has participated in local DUI education programs with the Fullerton Police Department as part of the North Orange County Bar Association (NOCBA), continuing legal education programs, and stays up to date on current Driving Under the Influence laws to help better assist his clients who have been arrested for DUI.

In addition, Mr. Cha is one of the very few if not only criminal defense attorney in the State of California that is a certified gang expert. This means that other attorneys often seek his advice for his unique knowledge and understanding of gangs. He has testified in court as an expert on gangs, prison inmate classification, and the perils of gang life.

Mr. Cha graduated from UCLA with a degree in Sociology, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law, along with a Certificate in Criminal Law Studies (awarded to less than 5% of graduating students).

During Law school, Jimmy Cha externed at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office and Juvenile Defender’s Office. He also served as a law clerk during law school, and was an independent gang profiler for criminal defense attorneys.

Jimmy Cha has been included in The National Trial Lawyers’ list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers, Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Lawyers by The American Society of Legal Advocates, Southern California’s Outstanding Young Lawyers by Los Angeles Magazine, and as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
