Micabil Diaz

Micabil Diaz-Martinez recently received advanced level training, from the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys, on how to use Mental Illnesses to Win DUI Alcohol and/or Drug Cases. Micabil received training on how, unfortunately, drivers who suffer from mental illness(es) will be misdiagnosed by the arresting officer and wrongfully arrested for DUI alcohol and/or drugs. Officers are specifically trained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that individuals with mental illness may exhibit signs and symptoms very similar to those of an individual impaired by drugs and/or alcohol. Officers are also trained that these individuals may also be experiencing coexisting conditions of mental illness with drug impairment. Because officers rarely ask a driver, during a DUI investigation, if they suffer from mental illness, it is critical for an attorney to ask each and every client this question.

The American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys has compiled information from Judges, Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors (the Top DUI Prosecutors in each State), DUI Prosecutors, current Law Enforcement Officers, former Law Enforcement Officers, and DUI Defense Attorneys to determine exactly what skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial.

When people need a DUI Attorney, the biggest challenge is knowing whether or not an attorney truly has the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases. Countless attorneys handle DUI cases. But, only a very small percentage have the skills, knowledge, training, tools, resources, and strategies that are needed to successfully resolve and win DUI cases.

Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys have received advanced level training on the strategies that win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial. Members of the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys also have access to the resources and tools that are used to win and successfully resolve DUI cases and these are resources and tools that only a very small percentage of DUI attorneys have access to and use.

Attorney Micabil Diaz has been practicing law over 25 years. His legal career can succinctly be summarized as one of service; both at the governmental and the not-for profit arena.  His career includes significant litigation experience in both state and federal venues, including the military under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice. One of the highlights of his career as an army judge advocate was the authorship, while deployed in Bosnia, of a standard operations procedure for the safekeeping and protection of evidence of mass graves on behalf of the International War Crimes Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (IWCTFY).

Upon his honorable discharge from military service, Attorney Diaz returned to Wisconsin where he appeared as the attorney of record in over 200 cases in courts throughout the state, representing individuals and institutions in a myriad of legal issues.  As to the federal venue Attorney Diaz has represented individuals and has appeared in both the Eastern and Western District of Wisconsin primarily in litigation involving civil rights cases under Section 1983.  As Assistant Chief Legal Counsel for the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Attorney Diaz represented the interests of the agency for a period of six years in both the Eastern and Western District’s Bankruptcy Courts. In the area of administrative law, Attorney Diaz conducted over 200 administrative hearings in Wisconsin as a Class 3 hearing officer on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.  In addition as a prosecuting attorney for the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, Attorney Diaz provided direct legal representation to the Department and its Boards in administrative hearings on disciplinary matters and license denials. Attorney Diaz also served as Deputy Secretary from 2005-2007 for the Department of Workforce Development overseeing the agency’s day to day operations, and supervising the agency’s $2 billion annual budget. In 2005, Attorney Diaz served as Chairperson to the Governor’s Minimum Wage Advisory Council.

From 1997 to 2000 Attorney Diaz served as the legal director of the state affiliate of the national ACLU. In this capacity he coordinated the advocacy, litigation, lobbying efforts and public education of civil liberties and civil rights of all residents of Wisconsin.

Currently Attorney Diaz is owner and managing attorney of Diaz Law Firm, LLC. Based in Middleton Wisconsin, the firm focuses on individual representation of clients in the areas of bankruptcy, criminal and family law.
